my sep trip is coming to a close.. gonna be back in sg next week.. hmm.. suxxy... nothing really changed much for the past 5 odd months.. except i'm going back with new found experiences.. and i thank my parents for giving me the chance. They are actually here with me in Brissy right now.. but unfortunately i've been down with terrible cough and fever.. and haven't really accompany them... but nonetheless, i've got great frenz here who did the job of showing them around for me... Thanks Ryan and Hong Ee..!..

Going back sg gonna face loads of stuff again.. the one that's really got me headaches is none other than the theis.. yuCks.

got about 16 hrs before start of exams tmr.. tmr french oral conversation, standing at 30% of the total grade i think, is my first "paper"!.. memorised my lines for the conversation loads of times during my "study"trip already.. hahAz... not too much of a problem now.. only that i gotta know when to say wat i'm supposed to say!.. i still do not really know what some of the dialogue mean.. so i'm just blindly memorising the lines and not knowing what the heck i'm saying... whatever.. so long as tmr turns out alright... =PpPpp

realised quite a number of frenz have their blogs as well.. pretty fun and interesting reading them... cos many a time, we don't really say things out.. either that or it's just difficult to find the appropriate time and occasion to say it... not knowing whether your frenz are ready to listen to your lengthy speech and problems... or pai seh to say some stuff.. sometimes it's just mere boredom that made u say all that u wanna say.. lotsa crap.. blogging allows me to say whatever i want and anytime i want, albeit with net access.. for this blog, it's been much of the experience i'm having in brissy... kinda like my own keepsake of the memories i have here.. it's a pity that i can't put up any pictures with hello!.. i've taken almost 8000 photos with my nikon camera ever since i got it this january.. most of which are taken in brissy... i'm a real forgetful person... needing pictures to remind of things that had happened... special occasions like celebrations, birthdays and anniversaries just doesn't seem to attach themselves in my mind.. can't really remember how i celebrated last xmas, xmas before last, 21st birthday etc... gonna make it a point to start taking snapshots =)

in the room alone... was reading my real estate management notes... till i got bored... sab's right... it's kinda dangerous when i get bored.. things happen.. ought to find something to kill my boredom when i get back sg.. learning drums... be a lil more IT savvy... mastering photography techniques and maybe just trying to recap all that i've learnt in my course may do me good.. instead of lazing around and distturbing pple.. hehez.. with the exams approaching, i'm flipping my notes more frequently... being yr 3 already, many foundation stuff they dun cover anymore, expecting you to have already mastered it in the earlier years... yet, there are so many of which i can't remember... finance formulas... valuation techniques have drifted away from me... ever since the end of their respective exams... i study for exams only.

taking a look at my previous post.. jEez.. that was quite sometime ago.. apologies... almost a month, but it seemed to have happened only like just last week.. time just whizzed by when u are having fun.. left less than a month in brissy... going back to sg on 10th july... sighz.. really don't feel like going back.. if only i can stay here longer.. won't mind getting a degree or masters here or smthg... dreamiNgz

jus got back from ... *ahem*... took a one week off from studying.. gonna get down to books soon.. first written paper's on thursday, 16th june... french!.. jEez.. it's really a nice language... but too difficult sia.. if only they got simplified version for simple folks like me.. that would be really great!... but they just gotta make it so tough for people to learn!.. can't even remember my verbs properly... hmm.. teach u guys the days k!!

Time will always whizz pass when you are having fun... from my previous blogging session till today's, it's been about two weeks.. was rushing some development assignment (gotta develop a plot of unspecified land and build 5 flatted factories), this paper accounts for 50% for my grade!.. jEez.. it's was challenging completing the task since i'm oblivious to all the land and building policies they have in Brisbane, so i gotta start from square one. it wasn't easy, mind you!

Been to sydney and back... went to the Blue Mountains, sydney opera house, darling harbour, fish market, birkenham point, bondi beach, manly beach.. stayed over at Gary's at UNSW.. he's been a real sweetie.. yet things haven't been too good between us.

Next trip is to New Zealand... in about two weeks' time.. Auckland.. hmmm.. never ever stepped into the grounds of NZ, dun really know what to expect, except maybe something like the Blue Mountains, mountain ranges and greenery.. gonna be real cold over there.. not too sure if i can pull through! i'm already reaching threshold in Brisbane, what's with NZ?!

It's gonna be a lay-low period for now, not that there are any places that are of interest besides maybe the islands outside Brisbane like North Straddie and Moreton Bay, and of course the three worlds.. finishing up assignments, studying for exams... oh yea.. they're starting in less than a month... first paper's on the 16th june!... that's when the two monkeys, shihong and shijie, are coming over.. hahaz.. good timing sia! Parents are intending to make a trip here to Brisbane as well.. checking out UQ and the lodge.. must tidy up the place soon.. they are coming with tian... hmmm

Starting to feel weary of travelling.. it's good to stay put at a place and relax.. enjoy the quiet moments.. it doesn't need to be all-so-exciting the whole time.. taking things slow can be so enjoyable some times... jus slack around and do nothing, think nothing.. STONE.. i lurve it!

Things are a-o-k in the lodge and UQ.. wonderz how are the attachments going on for jie meis back in sg...

taking a morning flight @ 945 to Sydney later in the morning... together with Hong Ee and Jolenn.. haven't been to Sydney before aside from a short transit way back ago... loitering merely in the airport.. finally making a trip there... looking forward to Blue Mountains, Darling Harbour and definitely the Opera House.. gonna take loads of photos!!.. will be heading to Canberra too!!!.. just to take a look at the Parliament House!... gonna be real fun!!!.. or at least i hope i wun miss Brisbane too much!! =PpPppp

jEez.. actually been feeling under the weather lately.. things hasn't been going as smoothly as i wish... but still it's alright... assignments handed up on time... tests taken.. there's another assignment due tomorrow.. gonna rush it out by tonight... about 1000 words to be puked out later after dinner... =P

just had my first written french test today... it's really like primary students taking exams.. hahaz.. sentence construction, fill-in-the-blanks and such.. listening comprehension... fwAHz!.. the listening comprehension was quite a killer... most of the time, i din know what the tutor was talking... jus guessing if it's vrai (true), faux (false) or je ne sais pas (i dun know)!.. hahaz... crossing fingers and toes that i'll pull through for this one!!!... shouldn't be too difficult huh???... *crossing real hard*

i had gone to this outback town called Toowoomba over the weekend on saturday with hong ee, ryan and samuel (an NTU exchange student that ryan met at the student exchange fair).... rented a car and took us about 2 hrs to get there from brisbane city... stopped by to visit the UQ Gatton campus as well.. checked the place out.. hahaz.. it doesn't even look like a campus aside from the few buildings that they had... it's more of farms and animals.. took photos of horses and cows.. it's really really cool to have all these farm animals on campus!!!.. must be even better to actually study them!!!... though, a point to add is that.. the place is really isolated!!!!.. HahAz.. you can just dream of a shopping trip there and it will never happen!!! We visited a number of places in Toowoomba... university of southern queensland, bird sanctuary of sorts and a japanese garden!.. probably cos we went on a saturday.. there were like at least 5 weddings receptions going on in the places that we visit!!!.. it was pretty nice watching the receptions and oaths taken by couples.. hahahaz... so it's quite easily to justify the beauty of the town with these ever-so-impt wedding receptions held there.. love the japanese garden especially!!!... the flowers are amazing! to end the day off.. we visited a race course and a rodeo show... race course was the typical horse racing kinda thing.. only difference from sg is probably the place has loads of kids.. more family oriented... it's more like a social gathering place rather than a mere gambling spot!.. the difference between asian ctries and caucasians!!! i would never have thought of gg to the turf club in sg!.. rodeo show was an eyeopener... the horses and bulls are raging with fury, trying to throw the rider off its back!!.. quite scary cos it's pretty dangerous with the fiery creature... hahaz.. but wun mind giving it a shot!!!!...

for sunday, we went to byron bay to catch sunrise intially... about 2 hrs drive again... was slping in the car.. hahaz.. cos it's in the wee hours of 2.30am when we drove out from lodge!!! it was bitter cold and all.. starting to think that my winter wear is really not enough!!!.. i'm so vulnerable to cold!!!.. we din manage to catch a nice sunrise thanks to all the clouds... but the strong waves hitting the cliffs is quite fun to watch... hahaz.. i easily fascinated... reminds abit of the journey along great ocean road during the melbourne trip... head off for beach and just shop around the byron bay town.. tk goodness chee ming was on this trip with us.. else we would have gotten lost over there.. cos the road signs are pretty confusing!!!... they can have "keep left" sign just under the "no entry" sign!.. how i know which ones i should follow?!.. but felt indebted to him as well.. hahaz.. cos he din sleep the whole night and despite having an assignment to rush out.. he joined us on the trip, making sure we get to the correct place..

Anzac day was on monday... 25th April.. or in French 25th Avril.. went to the Anzac Square to catch the Anzac Parade.. nothing fantastic actually... jus visit it once and it's enough!.. the people are just marching and marching on... it's a day to commemorate the people who perished in the World war 1 and 2... and whatever wars that follow... you see old veterans looking important in uniforms cladded in numerous badges across the chest.. jeEz.. the whole parade lasted for about 2 hours... i was bored after an hour into the procession... was quite tired after the parade and headed back lodge to catch more shows!!! hee

trip to sydney's on friday... pretty excited.. planning to go visit all the tourist spots.. darling harbour, opera house etc... together with blue mountains and canberra... staying over at gary's place while we are there... 4 of us going... my regular travel companion hong ee, defoe and jolenn.. should be alright huh.. hahAz.. gary had helped to plan this trip for us... tks loads!

involved in some social conflict here in lodge.. but still... i dun feel like sorting them out.. hate this kinda things...

it's a tuesday afternoon.. on my free day.. with nothing much to do.. or at least i hope there isn't much to do.. but that isn't meant to be... there are tonnes of work to be done.. esp my FRENCH!!... despite having 2 home tutors literally.. since they stay at the same lodge as me.. my french still suxx!!! borrowed books from the library to help brush up a bit on my own.. but those books are suited for bedtime stories!!!! fall asleep everytime i flipped the pages... hmpHz..

haven't been doing anything fabulous lately.. completed my first french essay of 103 words... like lil primary school kids.. with the help of Jon.. there are 2 frenchmen stayin here.. pierre and jon.. will make it a point to read the books i borrowed ltr!!!..

been to see some fireworks display last saturday at the conrad casino to commemorate their 10th anniversary.. nt exactly fantastic... preferred the sg national day one.. probably cos the ones over here are quite low.. nt like right high up in the sky.. but they had an outdoor public performance as well near the casino which was fantastic!.. the singer was good... there was a make shift dance floor... crowd was participating.. u see lil girls dancing happily with their dads who would swing them around... cha cha.. tango.. hahaz.. it's really interesting!!! u don't always see this kinda things happening in public in sg... took photos.. but.. haiz..

was at gold coast for my 2nd time on sunday... with hong ee, jon and his frenz.. 'seal-va'.. alright la.. jus go suntanning abit.. been too fair of late.. don't like the colour.. so went to tan abit.. before winter sets in... although it's like sunny.. the weather is really quite cold.. the wind will make u tremble a bit... i've come to realise i have very low threshold for cold.. been slping with jackets on these days.. and it's only autumn!!!... think gonna freeze to death in winteR!

no more assignment due this week.. but there are three next week!!!!!!

yea!!!... i'm almost done with my industrial valuation report that's due on thursday... and it's only tuesday now!!.. hee.. normally i do last minute work, but this time i'm 2 days ahead! *beams* all thanks to darren who's really a great great help!... he's amazinG!

went to catch Avril Lavigne last night with frenz @ Brisbane Entertainment Centre... suppose to start at 7.30pm.. started around 7.40pm with some unknown band that played their songs till about 8.15pm.. and Avril only made her appearance around 8.35pm... there's suddenly a break in between the performance, which is very unlike those concerts that I've attended in the past in sg.. It's like a low-budget kinda production... no fancy costumes, dance works... so typical of Avri.. hehEz.. but that's precisely the thing that i like about her! no huss and fuss.. we were at the standing arena, which was right in front of the stage!... stood throughout.. with Avril so close to us!.. or at least it's the closest that I got to the celebrities performing on stage! there wasn't much of a crowd.. no big who-ha.. no need to queue early to get best spots.. but the people do get high pretty fast!.. hahaz.. in no time, they were screaming and shouting.. not to forget, some of the fans, both guy and gals, took the effort to dress like her (for gals) and decorated their shirts with big "avril lavigne" for guys... the gig ended around 10.15pm.. which was pretty early.. a mere one and a half hr performance.... shortest that i've ever attended!!

Ryan, Hong Ee and myself went to Darra to take a look at their Little Vietnam (nothing fantastic) and headed for Ipswich Festival last Saturday @ Ipswich.. duhz.. it's a pretty much small yet prominent suburb... the parade lasted for more than an hr with over 70 floats on display.. We headed for the UQ (Ipswich) campus as well... it's a really nice place, and it doesn't even feel like school!!!... it looks more like some sanctuary away from the city!! It's really great!!... the library is what really struck me most!.. it has a mini stream and foresty kinda place in the middle of the place.. which is really really cosy and relaxing... imagine studying till your head goes bonkers only to hear the trickling sound of water and greenery just beside you!! I LOVE THE LIBRARY!!!

... hmmm... planning where to go this weekend... maybe toowoomba????

early this morning during breakfast, there was an intense discussion at the table as to if pharmacy is under the branch of medicine... i know they're related.. but is pharmacy a subset of medicine???.. the wager: 7 days' worth of bread spread... hee... i admit i've been too lazy to spread my own bread.. pple told me honesty pays.. bleHz.. so eventually i went on to check nus website... which says it's under the faculty of science, not medicine... in uq, it's under the school of health.. together w medicine.. oh well... it's ambigious... since that's the case, me and glenn are quits... no need for yogurt nor bread... so much for lazy bones... hee

know you guys been eager to check out the photos that i took during the adelaide and melbourne trip... BUT... i can't seem to start the hello site.. where i normally upload the photos.. so guess it's gonna be a while before i can put up any photos yah.. meanwhile... bear with my crap!!!.. i know you guys enjoy it!!.. haHaz.. puKez.. all 5 of us, myself, ryan, hong ee, defoe and gary took loads of photos with ryan leading the pack... of course.. we took on average about 1000 photos a day... no joke!! my harddrive is bursting with photos.. wait till it crashes.. i'll cry!! we visited the adelaide city, flinder ranges, barossa valley, mt gambier, great ocean road and melbourne city all in 8 days!!! yepz.. it's quite a fun trip... visiting new places and walking loads!!!... walked and walked till my heels are cracking real badly... wat to do.. me and my fetish for thongs... and surprisingly melbourne and adelaide is not as cold as i had expected... it's only the time where me, gary and ryan woke up in the wee hours of morning and went to catch sunrise at apollo bay along great ocean road....it was really really freezing!!! but the photos we took were excellent!!!.. worth the braving the cold!!!... will try to upload the photo when i can k!!

hee... looking forward to the sydney trip at end of month...

i've been catching movies over in the lodge... robots, ms congenality 2, hotel rwanda.. and be cool is on the cards tonight.. hee.. yepz yepz.. i'm like a movie freak here, erm.. tho not as much as glenn!!!.. hotel rwanda is really heartbreaking.. you see people getting killed just cos of differences... discrimination and all that.. hmmm.. kids involved as well.. it was quite stunning to think that pple kill kids to completely eliminate the regeneration possiblity... it's like they kill young, so they won't have the chance to produce more of their kind in future.. wat a load of rubbish!!!

school's quite hectic now... with assignments due dates coming up... but hee.. pass/fail ah.. grades dun really matter ah... lucky i met darren, who's studying valuation module with me... hee.. he's quite slack though.. but good enough for me to use his work as template for mine.. hahaz.. frankly, the policies of australia and s'pore are different lo... so abit difficult to apply what i've learnt in s'pore to here.. vice versa..

know all my frenz in s'pore are having their exams soon... in this month... hmmm... good luck to you guys k!!!... study hard hard... after that.. can come over brisbane and visit me!!!!.. ok ok????

I'll be flying off to adelaide in abt 3 hrs time.. flight's @ 1pm.. approximately 3 hr flight there.. yepz.. the mid-sem break has finally set in!!!... will be back from melbourne on 3rd april...

it's been one hell of a week... waiting for the break for the past one week.. trying to finish up multiple assignments due before the break and a french test!... yePz.. hahAz.. i scored FULL marks for my conversational french test.. which is absolutely amazing!.. starting to like the language!!... hEez.. i FINISHED all my assignments!!!

thurs was officially the last day of sch for the sem since friday's Good Friday.. the aussies treat this occasion pretty seriously... Monday's Easter is a also a break for them.. talk about long weekend huh?!.. went clubbing on thurs night @ downunder.. which wasn't like the most fantastic experience one.. but still, just to take a look.. place was too crowded... dance floor was packed like sardines... where's crowd control sia... furthermore, the clubs closed early this thursday.. around 12am, cos of Good Friday.. such a spoilsport! i would've thought they will extend their operating hours precisely cos it's the eve of a public holiday!!!...

been catching a hk drama show the last breakthrough on thurs and fri... it's a show about volunteerism and those hospital-doctor-bgr kinda stuff.. hee... 30 episodes.. and i finished all in the last 35 or so hours!.. slept only at 6am this morning.. only to wake up at 8am for bfast and last minute packing for adelaide!.. the resident dl-er glenn was ard to watch the show with me the entire night.. hahAz.. tv addicts!.. i'm watching a whole lot more shows in brisbane than in s'pore!!

as time passed, hopes of participating in the peace rally waned... just as we were about to head back to the train station, viola! we met up with an aussie family who were heading to the peace rally as well.. their peace sign boards gave them away.. haHaz.. we tagged behind them and 8 of us went in search for the rally together!!.. the kids were adorable.. the lil boy made many witty remarks.. ha!

hong ee, jolene accompanied me to annerley road area for a site visit on our own... i got to do an assignment that goes like this... " Write a 500 word design analysis on the permeability of the area, with references to the routes, blocks, public accessibility and links to surrounding areas.".. arGhz... how am i suppose to cough up 500 words for this! even if u were to ask me about permeabiliy of Toa Payoh which I've been staying at for probably close to twenty years, i would have a problem doing it! *grumble grumblez*

the lil ones played during half time for about 10 min.. they were really cute.. they just crowded around any poor boy who has the ball and try to push and shove their way to the goal line.. before i know it, a goal!! .. it's really good to have such half time entertainment... audience sees the cute ones play, while cute ones get to experience playing on the field in the stadium with such a massive lot of people...

i had my first industrial site visit at Salisbury (don't remember any of the S'pore lecturers bringing us to site visits.. usually we gotta get there ourselves and figure our way to get info about the site), an industrial zone in Brisbane which has major road networks for transporting goods around Sydney and Gold Coast.. i didn't know where that was.. and the lecturer.. the one standing at the centre of picture, offered to give me a ride from school to the site!... how cool is that?!.. ermm... but on our way here, met with a minor accident.. the car behind his knocked on his bumper.. no major damage, just some scratches.. it's as if Aussies are driving bumper cars!!.. not unusual to see dented boots and sides..

when we got there... there were about 30 cars driven by the rest of students visiting the site.. no exaggeration!!!.. you name it, they have it!.. how much cheaper can the cars get?!

hehEz.. there's no lack of shows to watch over in Australia.. there's this local network that we have in the lodge where each of the hostelites can share their documents... and thankfully there is a regular supplier for our shows.. hahAz.. and i've caught million-dollar-baby and hitch on my laptop! Brisbane's tv shows are boring!!!!.. nothing fantastic.. they have Australian version of American Idol called X-Factor.. but no big deal!... they are also showing American Idol.. not sure what season it is.. though i'm eagerly anticipating for BIG BROTHER!!!... they put like 12 people in the same house, with cameras all around.. and audience gets to see what goes on inside! it's a really nice house! caught some seasons back when i was in Melbourne the year before last.. sometimes i can be a sucker for reality tv!

i get to watch my Ren Fu on wan quan yu le too!!! all tks to glenn!!.. next time must por him more, then he'll help me get my shows!

I had a bad day today... just to name one..

well, i was supposed to have a 4 hr break in school (my french class ends @ 12 and my tennis class starts @ 4pm), and cos today was one of my dear jie mei's shufang's 22nd BIG day.. i was supposed to be online @ 3.30pm (using Brisbane time) to wish her!.. so i brought my not-so-light laptop to school, only to return home @ 12 after my first class, cos i was suffering from lack of sleep and suffered mood swings.. i made it a point to wake up @ 2.30pm to catch the 2.45pm bus to get to school by 3.15pm in order to be online in time. Bus stop is only 5 min away. I brought my laptop down again.. but when I reached school, the laptop couldn't get connected to the wireless network around!.. somehow it'll auto shut off whenever i try to activate it!.. i panicked.. cos i had said i would be online @ 3.30pm.. then i tried to use the library's comp to try my luck...(for a moment, I was thinking why am i so dumb as to bring my laptop in the first place and not use the school's comps..)

ALAS!.. i had forgotten that over here there's a stupid rule that the public comps in librarys are not suppose to access emails kinda website till after 5pm.. things like hotmail, yahoo mail can't use.. it was about 3.45pm when i had no choice but to email the birthday girl instead... yeapz.. i managed to do that.. don't ask me why.. cos i dunno too.. i'm an IT deficient idiot remember??...somehow i can access microsoft outlook from the NUS website.. i had moronically lugged the laptop around school... and not be able to use it for its impt purpose today!!! damn.

if you noticed, the time frame that the above happened is pretty short, in a mere maximum 2hrs??.. that's like 8.4% of a day... i was left with abt 58.3% of the day to fully immense myself in the lousy day and experience all sorts of nonsense.. why 58.3%?.. well, i can't possibly screw up while sleeping right??!

in any case, i shall not dwell in my misery.. but rather count the number of lucky days that i had and will soon to come.. hehEz..

by the way...

actually i don't really know how to put it... more like i dun think i have got enough vocabulary and the right words to do justice.. in essence, i thank God for all the wonderful friendships that i've had over the years... people whom I've crossed paths with and i'm glad for that. Messages poured in when i had put in my msn nick that i had a lousy day.. words of concern flooded my screen.. good pals were trying to cheer up my pitiful self.. tian called as well.. heE.. if only i knew all this would happen, and since i thrive in the presence of love and warmth.. i probably shuld have left the nick as it is!!.. hahAz... naHz.. i don't need bad days to remind myself of the good friends that i've over in S'pore and China.. *winKz*.. they are definitely no fair-weather friends!!

over here in Brisbane, while i try to overcome homesickness, which can be pretty overwhelming whenever it come to meal times(!) cos the food really suxx, i've great frenz around in the lodge.. a majority of the rooms are taken up by s'porean students.. all are easy to talk to.. they are the lao jiaos (experienced pple), forever dispensing good advice and helping me out with loads of stuff.. shuwei as well, who's my JC fren.. we were never classmates before but we went on a Youth Expedition Project to Chiang Rai in JC 1 then, and she's here doing her final year in UQ... and not to forget the 3 others from NUS to brighten up my days here..

Took the train down to Toowong Village, to make use of the $5 coupon that we've gotten from our orientation student diary which expires tomorrow!!.. UQ's student welfare is quite amazing i must say.. they include loads of vouchers and free bags and CD-roms in the orientation pack we had gotten on Market Day which is like some time back.. and all that for FREE!!!.. NUS one still must make us pay like 10 bucks for measly useless stuff.. (i once bought the 2003 cohort's pack for their tee!! dumb.)

We ended up buying 4 files, each of different colours at K-mart!!..that's like the whole series that they had for this design manz... saw it with Ryan the last time we were here, but cos we din have the voucher along, we swore that we would be back again!! Guess which one i bought!!!...hahAz.. psSt..give you clue..i mus say it may not be my usual choice yaH!

Me in a desperate attempt to try standing on the board... of course, i had to drink loads of water, fall a few times, get some knocks before i stood up... What a process! hmpHz .. we were taught how to manovuer the board in the waters at first by exerting strength on to the tail of board to bring the board down in spite of the waves... go as far out to the waters to catch the so-called right wave, spot it, pull board close to body, and jump onto the board, flat on stomach and simply just let the wave push you to shore! voila!

HarbourTown!!!... we had previously wanted to come here when we headed there from BroadBeach but landed up at Southport instead.. finally we found the place, after a half-hour bus ride from sufers'.. it's known for factory outlets and cheap surf stuff... was expecting a not-so-clean place with messy layouts.. but not at all was it like what i had imagined!.. who knows what's in store for us!

Gift cards are common in Brisbane.. instead of vouchers, people are given gift cards as presents... you just gotta put in a minimum value of $10 and the receipent can go to any branches to purchase their stuff... the card itself does not cost a cent... but when used, the staff will collect the card, for some reason.. probably to recycle.. was still thinking of keeping the card for souvenir... looks good right!

By the time we returned to Surfer's, it was dark.. the shops were still opened.. apparently it's the only place that has late night shopping every day of the week in Queensland!!.. to earn the tourist dollar no doubt! (Quick lesson: The suburbs in Queensland has late night shopping for the malls only on Thursday nights, where as the Brisbane City has late night shopping every Friday... but it's till 9pm only!)

There isn't many shops in Caloundra... a small beach town with no huge shopping malls around.. mainly catering to the seasonal holiday-makers and weekenders.. retirees as well.... according to Tony, Sizzler is THE place for retirees...so whenever you see an outlet in the place, it is a destination for retirees to enjoy life..

Jonathan was the president of SDE sports club that took over from Norman (my year's president) .. i've actually met him during the UQ Market Day about 2 weeks ago.. but wasn't sure what he was doing there... met him again at Mooloolaba Beach (of all beaches in Australia!!!), and chatted a while... he quit his studies at NUS after his yr 1, and headed to UQ to do his degree in psychology... will definitely see a lot more of him during my semester here in uq ah! ...you won't believe how true this prophecy is!

Below is a picture of a typical house-for-rent/sale sign in aussie...it's a lot better than those advertised in the Straits Times classifieds with teeny-weeny words and no pictures!.. is there a reason why more property are on the S'pore resale/ new market than Australia, despite that the latter ought to have more property around the massive land? are S'poreans moving house more often than Aussies? ..the property here isn't as cheap as most people think... the prices here are almost the same as S'pore HDB flat.. and this is only an apartment... true that it has a seaview and beachfront, but it's much easier to get seaview in Australia than Singapore tks to their generous coastal area... the waterfront housing over here strikes an interest in me.. but not sure how to incorporate it into my dissertation.. hiaKz.. (mental note: must start thinking for my disseration... and slack no more!)

Hong Ee, Jolene and I started our journey to Kangaroo Point- City Botanic Gardens- QUT by alighting at Park Road.. the stop after South Bank.. Ryan didn't come along with us as he had to finish up a thesis for a friend, so he stayed in the lodge.. the three of us don't really know our way around the place, first time visiting the area... both of them have never been to Kangaroo Point, except me, cos i was there for the G-Race last saturday as one of the checkpoints... but it was a never-travelled-before route.. so we just kept our fingers crossed and not lose our way!

We reached the StoryBridge that a kind passer-by told us about when we were comtemplating whether to head back to SouthBank or walk further more, cos there didn't seem to be anything interesting after the cliffs within sight... and also cos all three of us were already half-dead!! Now that we've walked through the long stretch of Kangaroo Point, we are faced with another long long bridge! apparently, it's the longest bridge in Brisbane... or so the guy told us.. the sun was burning above us!..
